Wrapping Up Botcon

Chrissy and I sat in line to meet Peter Cullen today. He signed my Hard Hero bust of Optimus Prime three times: once on the box, once on the front of the statue, and once on the back of the statue (because he screwed up the signature on the front). And then the silver ink didn’t dry very quickly, so I managed to put my thumb right on the front signature. I haven’t bothered to look at the back signature to see if I screwed that one up too.

Chrissy got both of our programs signed, and those turned out wonderful. We got signatures from all the voice actors. In retrospect, I would have been happier having Peter Cullen sign my Optimus Prime montage poster from Botcon 1998, but it’s deep in storage and I didn’t want to dig it out before we left. Oh well, I?m sure this is not the last time that I’ll meet Peter Cullen.

Unbeknownst to me, Chrissy got me a Japanese MP-03 Starscream and an MP-04 Convoy for Sweetest Day. I was in the Hasbro presentation, finding out that I already knew about all of the toys coming out in the next year (up to the movie, which they wouldn’t discuss), and Chrissy was having trouble trying to explain to Scott McNeill that she had no idea who he played on Beast Wars (I guess he went through each voice until she recognized Rattrap). After dissing Scott, she snuck off to the dealer room to hook me up. She’s the best! She got the last Starscream in the dealer room, and got a great deal on Convoy.

We had to get back to Aiden as quickly as possible (we both missed him very much), so we left the convention right after the Hasbro presentation. We had already checked out, so we made a bee-line for the car. We made good time on the trip home, even after stopping at a couple of outlet malls along the way. There’s an hour time difference between Highland and Lexington, so we got home a little earlier than we expected. It was a great trip.
