2007 Christmas Letter

We did send out a Christmas letter this year, but I wanted to post it to the web site anyway. Who knows, maybe somebody who isn’t on our holiday mailing list would like to know what we were up to this year? Click “Continue Reading” to read the 2007 Christmas Letter.

Happy Holidays from the Wilson Family! We have had a great year. We started off the year by buying a new Honda CR-V. Chrissy’s car wasn’t big enough to handle groceries, a stroller and the car seat all at the same time, so we bought ourselves a people mover. We recently turned the car seat around to face front, a reminder of how big Aiden is getting.

Watching Aiden grow has made this year very special for us. In January, Aiden was baptized at St. James the Less Catholic church in Highland, IN. We took Aiden to the Museum of Science and Industry for the first time in April with the Seraphines to see the Body Worlds 2 exhibit. Aiden got his first two teeth in June, but they turned out to be vampire fangs! Only the two top canines came in at first, but he rest of his front teeth came in by August. In July, we celebrated our three year anniversary at The Melting Pot in Chicago, and the fondue was fantastic, especially the chocolate.

A lot of the family showed up for Aiden’s Transformers-themed birthday party in August. He made a huge mess of his Optimus Prime cake. In October, Aiden dressed up as Dumbo for Halloween. He made it around the block in his stroller before coming home for dinner. We went to the County Line Apple Orchard and Kregel Farms Pumpkin Patch in the fall. Aiden loved the petting zoo. Chrissy takes lots of pictures of Aiden, and she has set up a small photo studio in the guest room.

We continued work on the house this year. The kitchen remodel started in February, and was completed in April. We pulled out soffits and the old pink tile work and then put in new Omega oak cabinets and Corian stone countertops. It looks great, and there’s a lot of new storage space now. In September, Michael and Uncle Glenn tore off and replaced the roof on both the house and the garage. That was a very dirty and exhausting week. We’re not done with our home remodeling yet, though; we hope to start work on a new deck next spring. Michael is excited to get his new deck.

Chrissy took a year off of work to stay at home with Aiden. However, she covered for another teacher’s maternity leave from late April till the end of the last school year. After the summer break, she was ready to return to work full-time in August. Aiden spends time with Grandma, Grandpa and his Aunties while we work. Michael has been teaching again as well. He just finished the spring semester of Introduction to Business Information Systems and E-Commerce.

We made the annual pilgrimage to Botcon again this year, this time to Providence, Rhode Island. We saw an early showing of the Transformers Movie (one week before anyone else) and actors from the movie were there. Michael went on a tour of the Hasbro headquarters, which was reserved to 300 people. We didn’t spend the entire trip at the Transformers convention, however. We rented a car and drove through Massachusetts to Cape Cod. We did the tourist thing in Plymouth and saw the Plymouth Rock. We sailed out of Plymouth Bay for a whale watching cruise with Captain John’s Tours. We saw plenty of whales, but it was a little cold out there on the high seas. Back in Providence, we went on a romantic gondola ride along the Providence River and visited a local brewery for some specialty ales.

The big news came late in the year: Aiden will soon have a younger sibling. Chrissy just found out that she is pregnant with baby #2. We’re not sure what to name it yet, but we should know the gender in three months. The due date will be late July. We’ll keep everyone updated on our family’s progress on our web site at http://www.michaelandchrissy.com.

Happy Holidays and have a great New Year! Please keep in touch, especially if we haven’t seen you in a while.
