Aiden’s First T-Ball Practice
We took Aiden to his first t-ball practice yesterday. He learned the basics: how to run the bases, throw the ball, snatch up grounders, and catch with his mitt. Aiden definitely needs more practice, but he’s still on the ground floor. He shows potential.

It was cold. We thought that the coaches would cancel the practice, since the cutoff temperature is supposed to be 48 degrees. Forty degrees wasn’t too cold for the little players, but it was plenty cold for spectators. We bundled up to watch.
The practice was pretty funny. Only one or two of the kids knew how to play. Aiden spent some time scooping up leaves with his mitt or balancing his mitt on his head while waiting his turn to throw or catch. He wasn’t the worst though.
Aiden at least wanted to play. There were kids making snow angels in the dirt. Some of them decided to stop halfway through practice. One was playing fetch with a coach. “Throw the ball back to you? How about way over there? Now go get it!”
Gavin felt left out. He wanted to run out on the field with the bigger kids. He stood on the bench and watched the team through the fence from behind the batter’s box. But Aiden liked it and can’t wait to go back. He’ll be teaching me how to catch soon.
