Last Game Of Fall Ball
Fall Ball season has drawn to a close. I can’t say that I’m sorry to see it go. Aiden is happy with playing t-ball, but this wasn’t exactly t-ball. The older Rookie-level kids play an infield game while the smaller T-Ball players languish in the outfield, which highlights the difference in skill level between them. It’s disconcerting to see one kid hit like a Little Leaguer when the kid next to him can barely make contact with the ball, especially when that little kid is yours.

I would have been happier to see the coaches take more time with the smaller kids. Aiden isn’t terribly interested in practicing at home, so he needs all the help he can get. But it wasn’t just the kids, it was the weather too. As we got into September and early October, it got colder. I was actually under a blanket during the first game of October. It was dark by the time the second inning ended. And this is cold season, so we missed a couple of games due to illness.
Basically, this was a lot more fun in the summer. All the kids played on an equal footing, the weather was nice, and it was overall just a pleasant experience. So if Aiden wants to play t-ball next summer, that would be great. He’s actually gotten a little better and even landed a couple of hits from the pitcher this Fall. But I don’t think that we’ll be doing Fall Ball again next year.
