Games I’m Looking Forward To In 2012
I’m a bit of a gamer, even if I only play on my PC. Chrissy and I just got new computers, so I’m ready to play all the new stuff coming out this year! There are a lot of games coming out in the near future that I’m looking forward to cracking open.
- Mass Effect 3 — Although I wasn’t as impressed with the sequel to Mass Effect as I was with the original, I’m still interested in the third title from this series. The cut scenes are amazing and Bioware plans to support multiplayer this time around.
- Bioshock Infinite — A huge departure from earlier games in the Bioshock series, Infinite leaves the city of Rapture in favor of a floating city. The game mechanics will remain the same, but the setting and theme of the game will be all new.
- Diablo 3 — Diablo is back! The first game was my introduction to online social gaming. The second game marked my first purchase of virtual goods online (who didn’t have a Stone of Jordan?). Diablo 3 will probably demand my first-born son. Sorry, Aiden.
- Borderlands 2 — Borderlands sports a stylized theme with a great sense of humor. And a lot of guns. I played all of the downloadable content that came later as well. Assuming that I’m not sucked into Diablo 3, then I’ll want to play this one too.
- Transformers: Fall of Cybertron — War for Cybertron is arguably the best Transformers game ever made. The sequel takes place directly after the end of the first campaign, but includes Dinobots and Combiners. I can’t wait for this one!
So the theme here is “sequels”. Once I find a game that I like, I don’t stray far. However, I tend to put a lot of time into a single game before I’m ready to move on to the next one, so I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to play all of these. I’m still knee-deep in Skyrim, so we’ll have to see how much more gaming I can handle in 2012.
